  1. All runners must have their number fastened to the front and visible at all times. All Participants in 10 km, 21 km and 42 km have to fasten the chip to one of their shoelaces. No chip no time.
  2. Timing will stop six hours after the marathon and half marathon starts. Runners arriving to the finishing area after six hours will not get registered time. 
  3. Your bib number and chip is registered and valid to your name only. Reykjavík Marathon reserves the right to disqualify runners not wearing the bib.
  4. The Marathon distance is open to all runners over 18 years of age. The Half Marathon is open to runners aged 15 and over. The 10 km race is open to all runners, although it should be pointed out that runners 12 years and younger should not run the 10 km without good preparation. The Fun Run is open to everyone and the LazyTown run is for children 8 years and younger.
  5. They relay race is open to all runners 12 years and older. The relay race is almost identical to the marathon in almost every aspect - the distance is 42,2 km, same location of the start and finish lines as the marathon - the only difference is that instead of one runner 2 to 4 runners complete the race in a relay-style. Switch points are at 10 km, 20 km and 30 km. Traveling to switch points and from there back to the finish has to be managed by every runner on their own.
  6. You cannot change the running distance on race day. A runner who runs other distance than registered for, is not valid in the race or time results.
  7. A runner who quits the race is requested to inform to a Marathon staff member.
  8. The course is only meant for participants in the race. It is not allowed to follow runners, walking, running or biking.
  9. No pets are allowed on the course.
  10. Participants are not allowed to have a baby carriage or a different kind of carriage in the 10-21-42  km race (only in the 3 km fun run).
  11. We only make an exception to this rule for those who are helping a disabled participant in the charity race.
  12. Those who want to walk with Nordic walking sticks have to stay in the back when the race starts. 
  13. All participants are kindly asked to study the finish area plan (handed out with the bib-numbers). They are asked to follow the instructions about the exits after the race and other request from the race staff.
