The Laugavegur Ultra Marathon was a grait success this year with 313 runners finishing the race.
The first male runner, Thorbergur Ingi Jonsson, set a new record when he ran the 55 km track on 4 hours and 20 minutes. The old record was 4 hours and 39 minutes set by Charles Hubbard from USA. The first female runner, Holmfridur Vala Svavarsdottir, was close to setting a record and ran on the second best time for women 5 hours and 33 minutes.

Laugavegur Ultra marathon will take place on Saturday July 18th. Participants should pick up their race packets from the offices of Reykjavik Marathon on Engjavegur 6. Pick-up is on Thursday July 16th and Friday July 17th, between 12 and 17. Click here for runners information’s. Runners are kindly asked to study the information’s carefully. Registered for this year Ultra marathon are 342 runners from 15 countries, 81 female runners and 260 male runners. |
